From a Canadian perspective the $700bn bail-out plan aimed at rescuing the US financial system is a very good thing. Here in Ontario it will help to stave off a possible recession due to a slump in our manufacturing sector.
However, I do question how good this will be for the average American taxpayer in the long run? I am no expert, but I do wonder if this bail out will serve as a strong lesson for consumers who spend far beyond their own means, and the credit institutions that have allowed for this situation to happen in the first place. Or not...
